Every project can be broken down into a problem that needs a solution. At Ciholas, we specialize in working very closely with our clients to integrate their existing knowledge of the marketplace and product requirements with our technical expertise about the possibilities and associated trade-offs. In some cases, Ciholas has already internally developed certain relevant concepts and algorithms as part of our Intellectual Property portfolio that we can leverage for the client. At this stage of our process, we define the electrical, mechanical, and software architecture of the product. The Idea Creation phase establishes a high-level description of what can be developed and how the different system components will work together. This phase also includes research into competing products, evaluation of emerging technologies, and proof-of-concept testing.
During the design phase of a project, we develop the specific electrical, mechanical, and software components of the system. This involves creating electrical schematics, laying out printed circuit boards, designing RF components, developing solid models of mechanical parts, and programming microcontrollers, processors, and FPGAs. This phase contains the bulk of our development work. To do this, we use several different CAD packages and simulation tools to ensure the design is robust and works properly. We pride ourselves on elegant production-ready solutions, minimizing the number of prototype builds and design revisions.
The design phase concludes with the production of a small quantity of functional prototypes, which are then transitioned into factory production. These prototypes undergo a comprehensive series of engineering tests to validate performance, reliability, and overall design integrity. After any necessary modifications are made, the units are tested and field-trialed by the client--and in some cases, by end users--to ensure real-world performance meets expectations. All accumulated feedback from testing and trials is incorporated into the final production release. From there, Ciholas partners with clients to identify the appropriate manufacturing resources, establish factory acceptance testing procedures, secure regulatory approvals (when required), and provide ongoing production support as needed.
While many engineering firms view final production as the conclusion of their engagement, we see it as just one milestone in a longer partnership. Our experience and expertise allow us to support clients well beyond launch through a range of additional services, including intellectual property strategy, bug tracking and resolution, repairs, product upgrades, and end-of-life planning and management.
